Testing out the idea of making some of my older animations into a vertical format so I can post them to Shorts. Not ideal, but I figure it's a good way to separate shorter animations like that from the main videos on my channel.

For those interested, I just put a side-by-side comparison of my most recent remastered video with the original video from three years ago on my Patreon:

There's also some annotations in the video that touch on the various changes made and why I changed them.

Hey everyone - I've recently done a test trying out a new style of animation. It didn't feel right to post it here, so I've posted it on Patreon for free so everyone can see:

www.patreon.com/SkyForgeFilms

Here's some text that I had accompanying the video:

Here's a test of a new animation style I've been thinking about, once again using audio from the Empire Strikes Back radio drama. In essence, I'm trying to develop a style that allows me to still tell stories in an engaging way using audio and visuals, while lowering the time and cost of production. Here, I'm rendering out separate elements as stills and then doing a 3D camera move in After Effects in order to give the still renders some life.

Without having to fully animate character scenes and letting the voice acting do the work, I can do things faster and tell more stories. I'd still like to have fully animated segments for things such as space battles, and this is one test of many in order to try and blend those different styles together so that it isn't distracting.

Some might wonder why I decided to go down this path, since I already released something that was fully animated. While I'm proud of the work I did on Ambush at Derra IV, it was an incredibly taxing and slow process. Having everything be fully animated would be the goal, but ultimately, I don't have the time or resources to animate all of the stories I want to tell. So, this is one way I could potentially do that.

Let me know what you think in the comments, if you think there's a way I can improve the look or process.

Check out the new ‪@ECHenry‬ video! This goes into some detail about the very first TIE Fighter design from Colin Cantwell, and how EC Henry used it to great effect in his video detailing some fan lore about the Colin Cantwell X-wing.

It's only recently come to my attention that YouTube will annoyingly put ads on my videos even if I'm not in the partner program and they haven't been copyright claimed. Realizing this, I figured I'd start uploading videos to the Patreon, as a way to watch uncompressed versions without annoying ads. I'll probably start by trying out Patreon's new video post feature, but if that doesn't work well, I'll find a new solution. Head over to patreon.com/SkyForgeFilms - where I'll be putting older videos up soon.
