The Be The Help Foundation Agroforestry project started in June of 2019 with two systems. The modernized Brazilian system (MBS, modernized by Roland Frutig) and the Vetri (Indian) system, named after an Indian farmer, called Vetri (who introduced the pattern). The Brazilian system is non-irrigated system where as the Vetri system is irrigated. The two systems have two different planting patterns, plant population/density and would mean different things to different farmers.
The primary aim of this project is first to prove that this system of agriculture is possible here in Nigeria, get the rural farmers to embrace this system which is sustainable and regenerative thus leading to improved yields and better income for the farmers especially small holder farmers (SHFs) leaving the environment positively impacted.
