PROJECT DESCRIPTION – SOWETO ARTS AND CULTURE FESTIVAL 2021 (#SACF2021)
The Soweto Arts and Culture Festival is one of the NACDF’s projects. The festival is aimed at creating employment and assisting artists across various disciplines who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to showcase and market their works. The inaugural edition of the festival created a lot of job opportunities for artists who have had no income due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The event also served as an opportunity to preserve and celebrate our rich and diverse South African arts, culture and heritage during this difficult time. The four day festival was held in Soweto from the 20th to the 23rd of May 2021. The event was headlined by established artists as well as up and coming local artists across various disciplines. The festival enjoyed extensive media coverage from SABC Morning Live, Newzroom Afrika, Radio 2000, Power FM, Radio Bop, etc.
