It's for reasons like this that I love Wings of Fire!
Now Clay didn't actually die saving Starflight, but unlike the false Dragonet of Destiny Mudwing Ochre, who had no love for his friends and didn't save Viper, Clay, was willing to jump into lava for Starlight. Having came from a Red Egg, he did have fireproof scales, but it was still a really painful experience.
Similarly, if you didn't know, how Ono Dove close to lava to save Bunga in the 3rd season of the Lion Guard, forever sacrificing his famed keen eye sight in the dangerously hot and toxic bog vapor coming from the lava were they vanquished the flaming Scar!
They are great Role Models!

Hey Fellow Fan Wings! I wanted to share this because its amazing!
Seeing what amazing Art the community has produced, and the Original Characters ( OC's ) everyone has made! Including the fun Role Playing everyone is having in the Wings of Fire Roblox Games. I Thought I might share a really awesome ( and True ) Mystery with you. One literally revealed by God ( Jesus Christ ) that he wants you to know about!
I'm writing this especially to anyone who's ever wanted to actually change into a Fun loving Dragon like on Wings of Fire! ( In Real Life ) and so that you will know that this is actually possible, but only Through Jesus Christ! ( I'm not joking, but this change event takes place at a specific time in the future called the Resurrection, or for those who are alive when this happens, the Rapture! I believe its very soon. )
Read what it say's here in his word ( The Bible ) in First John chapter 3 verses 1 through 3 in the Amplified version: (1 john 3: 1-3 Amp) (Amplified for better understanding for first time readers)
"See what an incredible quality of love the Father has shown to us, that we would [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, we are [even here and] now children of God, and it is not yet made clear what we will be [after His coming]. We know that when He comes and is revealed, we will [as His children] be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is [in all His glory]. And everyone who has this hope [confidently placed] in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure (holy, undefiled, guiltless)."
I'm truly encouraged by reading this, and wanted to share!
The bible says we are like Seeds now (in our current bodies) and that: "If you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] will not be disappointed [in his expectations].” -Romans 10: 9-11
(Think Silk Wings, when they metamorphize, but much greater! Greater even than Animus magic!)
Now our Expectations are Eternal Life, Resurrection Bodies which Theology literally leaves as an open book by saying it is not yet known what we will be! [insert imagination here! ] But not only this: It also says: “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” -1 Corinthians 2:9

(Resurrection and Resurrection Bodies) Many Questions will be answered, and it will lead to many more all of which can all be answered!
