FEB 28 DEADLINE APPROACHING

At Face/Interface 2025, we announced the new SILICON Type Design Incubator.
In partnership with Words of Type, the Letterform Archive, and Adobe, the SILICON Type Design Incubator invites students—especially those from Digitally Disadvantaged Language communities—to explore typography in a supportive online program.
Successful Applicants to receive 100% Scholarship, covering course tuition + ALL required course software.
TWO AVAILABLE TRACKS
1. Type Design for Digitally Disadvantaged Non-Latin Languages
2. Decolonizing Latin: Reimagining Typefaces for Languages of the Americas, Africa, and Beyond that Use the Extended Latin Alphabet
Learn from experts, create unique typefaces, and challenge dominant frameworks in type design.
WE ARE SEEKING APPLICANTS WHO ARE:
Curious (or perhaps already passionate!) about type design, but who may lack extensive formal training
From *anywhere* in the world (i.e., this program is NOT limited to Stanford students)
18 years or older (by May 2025)
We are especially eager to meet students from Digitally Disadvantaged Language communities
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is *not* a formal credit-granting Stanford program. Successful applicants will have no formal accreditation from or affiliation with Stanford University. This program is fully online.
