The Chianti Multifunctional Observatory (OPC), located in Montecorboli, San Donato in Poggio, hosts 4 observatories: environmental, astronomical, meteorological and seismic.
The structure, built jointly by the municipalities of Tavarnelle in Val di Pesa and Barberino Val d'Elsa, was inaugurated in 2010 by Margherita Hack and the Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli on 7 July 2013.
The OPC is a structure dedicated to scientific research, adult training, teaching and dissemination, it is open to the public with events, demonstrations, courses, conferences, open days and visits by reservation.
