NEW SONG: "Sketches in Spain"
Inspired by a long-stretch Miles Davis obsession, "Sketches in Spain" is my attempt to articulate the life-long acid trip that is sight-sound synesthesia.
I originally wrote this record 10 years ago at a JCPenney Call Center in Columbus, Ohio and had no idea what to do with it - a song about Spain, sound, colors and synesthesia. Cut to a decade later: I've returned from a month-long stay in Madrid and am about to head into a doctoral program where I'll be learning/creating the very things I imagined in that call center.
Thank you to my guy Jesse Clayborne, the producer of the song, for a decade of patience on this track. He killed it and I'm honored to float on top of it.

Hey!

This series is an under-the-hood look at my entire range of production: whether flipping samples and drum programming or applying what I'm learning now with piano composition, theory, ear-training, live recording and sound-synthesis. I've got a new song for everyone. I've never made a song like this, never rapped like this. It took me a long time to articulate and evolve my perspective on systemic racism and gentrification in a way that I would be proud of in 20 years, so f it here goes.
It's a constant challenge to not only balance both self-improvement and social activism but to see one's social activism AS self-improvement. This record is inspired by visionaries, entrepreneurs and activists who understood this concept both for themselves and their communities.
