The word 'yore' means time long past. Vocabulary.com said it best by saying that yore means olden times. Yore has a sentimental or nostalgic tone to it, implying that the olden times being described are in some way superior to the present day. I happen to agree.
I created this name to highlight two main concepts of my preschool program. One, being, yore. That is a very key aspect to my Waldorf influenced preschool, where domestic activities such as laundry, baking, cooking, gardening, cleaning, sewing, and art are the focus of day-to-day activity. Telling stories of dragons and fairies and fairytales in a way that will captivate a young audience with rich language and song is a perfect way to teach. The second, being, shire, which gives a visual in most minds of community, a village if you will, of comfort, of peace, of wooden objects, and of food and fellowship, and of course, adventure.
