in the future - u will be able to do some more stuff here,,,!! like pat catgirl- i mean um yeah... for now u can only see others's posts :c
Iām not sure whoās going to read this but as itās my first post in a while, I figured Iād include an update of sorts.
As some of you may know. A while ago, I decided to take to take a āshort breakā from social media for an abundance of reasons. Well. That ābreakā quickly turned into a yearā¦ and the best part of another. At the time. I felt as tho my creative process was suffering and simply needed a break to get my head together. However, what followed was a much needed and equally unexpected re-evaluation of my entire headspace and lifestyle.
Put simply, I got my sh*t together!
In an attempt to abridge things a little. I got sober! This undertaking was not linear and after many slips and stumbles Iāve managed to stay clean for close to 7 months now. With sobriety came a number of changes, namely social. I still feel that Iām coming out my shell and trying to reintegrate with friends. Mostly because Iāve been intoxicated and or self medicated in some fashion since I was 16. Once those lubricants were removed it surprised me how much I had to get to know myself again.
This lead me (entirely by chance) to the gym. An activity which never interested me in the past.
Alongside the endless support of my better half. The gym has been intangible to my recovery. The good people @the_sanctuary_gym provided me with an environment to feel secure and better myself. Not only physically. But emotionally. For the first time in my life I have a modicum of self confidence and to be honest, I donāt quite know what to do with it š
ANYWAY! MUSIC!! Thatās why you guys follow me.
On top of all of this I have put in easily 1000 hours plus into mixing. I basically decided to strip it all back and teach myself from scratch. Re-train my ears and get out of bad practices. Like everything else in this post. Peaks and Troughs Iāve had times where Iāve felt like the Renaissance and other times where I feel like a complete imposter who should sell his studio and live under a bridge. You know? Perfectly rational, human emotions. Itās been stressful. But invaluableā¦

New music Memorex? When?
I really, genuinely donāt know. Because, throughout this journey Iāve had many epiphanyās and breakthroughs. Iāve confronted myself. Accepted my flaws, addressed many of my personal issues and plan to continue that as I always want to better myself as a person. With that being said. I have to be honest. Iām sorry to say. But Iāve grown to despise chill synth. I have nothing but respect for my colleagues and contemporaries and wish them nothing but the best but from a personal perspective. I think this sub genre is a creative graveyard and sadly, a bit of a circle jerk. Artists collaborating with other artists for the sake of maximising appeal to a niche audience who worship a very strict formula and if you deviate in anyway from said formula, itās met with vitriol because itās perceived as some kind of mistake and not artistic direction. Itās soul destroying, restrictive and veryā¦ VERY boring. To the point where I actually began hating music production.
Once again. This is not meant as some calculated insult to anyone within the scene. Itās merely my own personal take and to be perfectly honest. Itās purely a me issue. Because there are so many artists within this scene who are killing it and at one point I aspired to be in their position. But as time went on, wether it be from personal issues or otherwise. I fell out of love with the sound and the scene in itself. And the more distance I put between it and my creative process. The more it felt like I was finally coming up for air. A fresh start.
Under no circumstances am I stepping away from music. Thatās an impossible task. Itās my favourite thing in life. But wether or not that music is going to be with Memorex or not? Remains to be seen. Iām not closing the door. But I need to do what makes me happy and right now. Chill-Synth or any of its Wubby and wavey counter parts are not doing it for me.
If you made it this far. I really appreciate it ā¤ļøāļø
