I'm well aware of the climate impact of flying, and I would like governments to work together to rapidly reduce this impact. Only if governments act will we be able to retain a liveable planet. That said, in the absence of government action, I am not willing to stop flying, as one person cannot make any measurable difference.
To stop my own choices from causing harm, I have started purchasing sustainable aviation fuel through websites like Compensaid and FlyOnSAF (www.flyonsaf.com/) for my share of each flight's fuel. Essentially, SAF is made from CO2 or methane that has been removed from the atmosphere (by biological or technological means), which means it makes a very small net contribution to atmospheric CO2. It's a different thing to offsetting (which can take decades for the CO2 to be removed). If you do fly, I'd encourage you to do the same.
