Suthirtha Mondal, from Class XI B at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kolkata, has secured the Second Position at the National Level in the National Meteorological Olympiad, held on 13th January 2025 at Mausam Bhawan, India Meteorological Department (IMD) HQ, New Delhi.
The event, organized as part of IMD's 150th-anniversary celebrations, provided Suthirtha with an invaluable opportunity to interact with dignitaries. He had the honor of meeting the Honorable Prime Minister of India, a cherished moment that added to his remarkable journey. He also interacted with Prof. Celeste Saulo, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra, Director-General of Meteorology, IMD.
The Olympiad not only recognized Suthirtha's academic excellence but also provided him with a platform to learn from IMD's esteemed scientists about climate change, weather forecasting, and disaster management.
We are immensely proud of Suthirtha and his outstanding accomplishment. This success underscores the excellence of education and values nurtured at Amrita Vidyalayam under the divine guidance of Amma, our beloved Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.

On January 11th and 12th, volunteers from MA Center Los Angeles, guided by Swami Dayamritananda Puri, united in heartfelt relief efforts for those impacted by the devastating Los Angeles fires. With love and dedication, volunteers from across the city came together to support evacuees and victims, providing meals, essential donations, and comfort during this challenging time.
Here’s how they made a difference:
- Served hot meals to over 150 people at shelters.
- Prepared and froze extra food to ensure victims had sustenance in the weeks ahead when help often wanes.
- Donated food, clothing, and essential items like toiletries and phone chargers to shelters and those in need.
- Offered meals and support to fire victims at the Downtown Women’s Center in LA.
- Visited fire-ravaged homes in Pasadena to provide comfort and solidarity to affected families.
It’s in the quiet days after a disaster—when media attention fades—that victims often need the most help. We are so grateful to every volunteer who stepped up to bring hope and healing to our community.

Swami Shubamritananda conducted a series of spiritual programs across the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland from October 4 to November 5, 2024, as part of his autumn tour. These events included public programs, spiritual retreats, and motivational talks for the youth. The programs received an overwhelmingly positive response, with venues filled to capacity even in new places like Sevilla in Spain. The events also garnered significant coverage in both print and visual media. Swami Shubamritananda has been travelling as Amma’s envoy in Europe since 2003, inspiring audiences with his heartfelt messages.

As Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri's yatra in North America continues, here are some glimpses from various events. Sharing Amma's message of universal #love, infinite #compassion, and world #peace, Swamiji's yatra commenced on November 1 as he conducted various public programs and spiritual retreats across the United States. Swamiji, Amma’s most senior disciple, has been traveling the world with her since 1987. The retreats focused on the theme 'Forgiveness, A Path To Spiritual Unfoldment.' Swamiji's soulful bhajans and presence created a spiritual ambience amongst devotees. On November 12, Swamiji gave an impactful talk at Arizona State University. Swamiji will be continuing his yatra to St. Louis & Toronto in the upcoming weeks.
