Faiza Rushdi (1921 – 2003) was an Egyptian-Israeli Jewish singer who became known, among other things, for her performances with the Voice of Israel Orchestra in Arabic conducted by Zozo Musa.
Rushdi was born in Alexandria, Egypt as Miriam Bonan. At the age of eight, she won a national talent competition. Fatma Rushdie, a successful Egyptian singer and actress at the time decided to adopt Miriam into her band and named her "Faiza Rushdie". Following the success, the family moved to Cairo. She developed a career as a singer and film actress in Cairo and Alexandria and was played on the radio in Egypt. First came performances in the Land of Israel in 1946.
In 1951, following her mother's death, she immigrated to Israel with her two brothers. When Israeli radio started playing it, they stopped playing it in Arab countries. In 1954, she entered the Broadcasting Authority as a lead singer in the Kol Israel Orchestra in Arabic until its disbandment in 1990.
