My muse comes in the shower! Sometimes I take extras during the day just to talk to her. So in between getting ready for a podcast interview and juggling all that I want to do in life, I felt like sharing my #2cents with you.
Your childhood may shape you, but it doesn’t need to define who you are today. It is funny now, but growing up, my grandfather told me “A bear stepped on your ears” which turned out to mean that supposedly I had no musical ear or talent. Becoming the pianist, I am now, he was obviously wrong. But his voice secretly hid at the bottom of my subconscious and made itself known in various grown up blockages.
Not having a musical ear meant I often fell like an imposter in my career, afraid to start to improvise, or to just create for the joy of it. It gave me an excuse and a fallback to not tread the path unknown. I was strong but my belief in my own creativity was weak. In hindsight, my midlife crisis has opened doors I never dreamed of.
Digging into what you have been told as a child, you get to see different patterns present in YOU today. Introspect and discover more of your wishes, face and acknowledge your fears – YOU are amazing with all your cracks and crevices, your hopes, fears, and dreams.
