I've just finished a new video from the album SHOT OF BLUE. This one is for "Stars." It's probably the most personal. But that happens sometimes.
It premieres tomorrow.

I love working with dreams in film. They’re the most powerful when you don’t announce them, just like in life. I slipped this idea into “December Sun” to touch upon how it feels to wake up from a dream where you were actually with someone you had loved. It can leave you with “an ache that burns inside of you for days.”
Trina Hamlin plays an amazing harmonica on this song. I recorded her in my apartment. Two takes. A little echo and delay, and she’s got that burning ache down cold.
The guitars are by the legendary Dean Parks. Ghostly background vocals by Krista Gall.
From my new album SHOT OF BLUE.

I look at this cover and feel equal amounts of joy and disbelief. It has taken 7 years for this moment.
I thank everyone who played and sang on it for the tremendous gifts you gave me.
And I thank everyone who supported me, kept listening and encouraged me to keep going.
Shot Of Blue is now out of my hands.

My new music video for "Waltz" from SHOT OF BLUE drops on Friday, November 1st, with the album! I'm going live on my Facebook Page that day to celebrate at 10:30 a.m. PST. Rumor has it there may be some singing involved. I may or may not be drinking at that time, but please feel free to bring shots of your own to toast with! It is a special day. www.facebook.com/events/406080565892874/

I recently met Adan Gonzales who has a very cool Film site called @staunchtv. He did a really fine videocast of his profile of my film, Johnny Suede. I'm sharing it here.
One famous indie director once said, "A critic is like a soldier who fires on his own troops."
Adan Gonzales has helped me to believe otherwise. He brings a fresh, and refreshing, energy to his video essay about Johnny Suede. He knows his facts and he presents them in a clear, original voice. He gets things in the film that were so important and meaningful to me. Things I thought were obvious but practically no one mentioned them.
He even disagrees with me! Which I love.
Watch his passionate, eloquent review of Johnny Suede.

His other films include Living In Oblivion, Box of Moonlight, and Delirious. He won a Grammy for his documentary on The Doors: When You're Strange.
DiCillo formed The Black & Blue Orkestre in 2013 with Grog Lisee and Will Crewdson. They released Hurt Me Tender in 2014, available on iTunes and Amazon.
DiCillo has just finished a new album called Shot of Blue, which will be released on November 1, 2024.
