EU's Complicity in Israel's Genocide in Gaza

The European Union's ongoing political and material support for Israel has been a contentious issue, especially in light of the genocidal war in Gaza. Despite international outcry and legal proceedings, the EU continues to engage in arms trade and provide funding to Israeli entities. This article examines the extent of the EU's involvement, the implications of its actions, and the call for more stringent measures to hold Israel accountable.

Irish journalist and author David Cronin, in an interview with Anadolu, highlighted the EU's lack of prohibition on arms trade with Israel, which is under trial at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for genocide in Gaza. Cronin emphasized that the EU's decision not to impose a weapons ban makes it complicit in the ongoing genocide. He pointed out the double standards in the EU's approach, citing the arms embargo imposed on Russia in 2014 for annexing Crimea, while no similar action was taken against Israel during its attacks on Gaza.

The EU's support for Israel extends beyond mere rhetoric. Since the attacks on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, the EU has continued to provide political cover and material support for Israel's military actions. This includes almost eight months of unrelenting bombardment, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 40,000 people and the displacement of 2.3 million others. The destruction of Gaza's civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, schools, and places of worship, has been unprecedented.

The EU has also been financially supporting Israeli arms companies. Between 2018 and 2022, EU member states sold arms worth â‚Ŧ1.76 billion to Israel, making the EU the second-largest arms supplier to Israel after the US. Despite the ICJ's interim ruling in January 2024, which indicated that Israel was plausibly committing genocide, the EU has not applied its arms embargo system to Israel. This has allowed the flow of arms to continue, with Germany being the largest European supplier, followed by Romania, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Spain.

Moreover, European public money is directly funding arms manufacturers that supply Israel. Companies like Rheinmetall, Nammo, Leonardo, ThyssenKrupp, Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, and Renk have received substantial European public funding while continuing to arm Israel. This financial support also extends to security and defense projects, with Israeli entities receiving â‚Ŧ69.39 million from 132 EU-funded security projects since 2008. These projects often involve Israeli military and arms industry collaborations, further entrenching the EU's complicity in the ongoing conflict.

Horizon Europe, the EU's research and innovation program, has also been implicated in funding Israeli entities involved in the Gaza conflict. Since October 7, 2023, the EU has granted â‚Ŧ126 million to 130 research projects involving Israeli participants. These projects include funding for arms companies like Israel Aerospace Industries, which have received substantial amounts under Horizon Europe. This funding continues despite the systematic violation of human rights in Gaza and the destruction of its health facilities.

EU and Israeli military cooperation has been extensive, with several European countries participating in joint military exercises, training, and intelligence exchange with Israel. This close relationship has persisted despite Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza. The EU's border and coast guard agency, Frontex, leases drones from Israeli companies for surveillance flights, highlighting the deep military and security ties between the EU and Israel.

The EU's continued political support, arms trade, and financial backing for Israeli entities involved in the Gaza conflict have made it complicit in what many describe as genocide. Despite international legal proceedings and widespread condemnation, the EU has failed to take concrete steps to hold Israel accountable. This complicity not only undermines the EU's credibility on human rights but also perpetuates the suffering of the Palestinian people. It is imperative for the EU to impose a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel and halt all forms of support to ensure accountability and justice for the victims in Gaza.

Rachel Corrie: A Legacy of Courage and Compassion

Rachel Corrie’s life and legacy are a testament to the power of individual action and the profound impact one person can have on the world. An American peace activist from Olympia, Washington, Rachel's unwavering commitment to justice led her to Gaza, where she stood in solidarity with Palestinians facing the harsh realities of occupation. Her tragic death on March 16, 2003, at the hands of Israeli military, turned her into a symbol of the struggle for Palestinian rights and global justice.

Rachel's journey began long before she set foot in Gaza. Born on April 10, 1979, she was the youngest of three children in a politically liberal and economically conservative family. Her early life in Olympia was marked by a strong sense of empathy and a desire to make a difference. This drive led her to Evergreen State College, where she became deeply involved in peace activism and community service.

In her senior year, Rachel joined the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and traveled to Gaza as part of a sister city project between Olympia and Rafah. Her mission was to connect communities, foster understanding, and bring attention to the plight of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. Rachel’s presence in Gaza was not merely symbolic; she actively participated in nonviolent protests, standing in front of bulldozers and military tanks to prevent the demolition of Palestinian homes.

On that fateful day in March, Rachel stood her ground in front of a Palestinian family's home in Rafah, determined to prevent its destruction. Witnesses reported that she was clearly visible in her bright orange jacket when the bulldozer ran over her, crushing her to death. Her final words, expressing concern for her broken back, echoed the pain and suffering of countless Palestinians living under siege. Israelis made fun of her by making pancakes in her name. They also threatened her family.

Rachel's murder by the Israeli military, sparked international outrage and brought renewed attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Her parents, Cindy and Craig Corrie, channeled their grief into a relentless pursuit of justice. They filed a civil lawsuit against Israel, challenging the findings of the Israeli investigation that labeled Rachel's death an accident. Despite their efforts, the Israeli courts ruled against them, a decision that was widely criticized by human rights organizations.

Yet, the legacy of Rachel Corrie extends far beyond the courtroom. Her story has inspired a global movement advocating for Palestinian rights and justice. The Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace & Justice, established by her parents, continues her work by promoting grassroots activism, education, and advocacy. Through various initiatives, the foundation seeks to build bridges between communities and foster a culture of peace and nonviolence.

Rachel's writings, compiled in the book *Let Me Stand Alone*, offer a poignant glimpse into her thoughts and experiences. Her heartfelt letters and journal entries reveal a young woman deeply troubled by the injustices she witnessed and determined to make a difference. Her words continue to resonate, serving as a powerful reminder of the human cost of conflict and the importance of standing up for what is right.

Rachel’s story has been immortalized in plays, documentaries, and countless tributes worldwide. Schools, hospitals, and streets bear her name in Palestine, and her memory is honored annually through various commemorations. Her life and death have become a symbol of solidarity, reminding us that the fight for justice is far from over.

In remembering Rachel Corrie, we are reminded of the profound impact that one individual can have in the face of oppression. Her legacy challenges us to act with courage and compassion, to speak out against injustice, and to strive for a world where the fundamental rights of all people are respected and upheld. Rachel's unwavering commitment to peace and justice continues to inspire new generations of activists, proving that even in the darkest times, the light of one brave soul can illuminate the path to a better future.

Israel’s Organ Trafficking and Legal Immunity

Organ trafficking remains a pressing global issue, with ongoing allegations against Israel regarding the harvesting of organs from deceased Palestinians. The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor recently accused Israeli forces of stealing organs from Palestinian bodies in Gaza, including livers, kidneys, hearts, cochleas, and corneas. Medical professionals in Gaza have corroborated these claims, despite denials from Israeli authorities.

Recent reports continue to underscore historical accusations against Israel for organ theft. Investigations have documented instances of organ harvesting from Palestinian corpses for medical research and transplants. In 2014, an Israeli television investigation revealed the extraction of skin from deceased Palestinians and African workers for medical purposes. These consistent reports indicate Israel's involvement in the global black market for human organs.

The involvement of Israeli military authorities in organ trafficking has been suggested by investigations, which indicate the participation of medical professionals and students in these activities. Despite persistent allegations and evidence, Israel denies any wrongdoing.

These allegations not only raise serious human rights concerns but also highlight broader issues regarding accountability and the rule of law. The need for international scrutiny and robust legal frameworks is evident to address these allegations impartially and ensure justice.

These ongoing challenges underscore the importance of comprehensive investigations and international cooperation to uphold human rights and the rule of law effectively.

The Muslim Vote and UK Politics: A Focus on Palestine and Gaza.

The upcoming UK elections are witnessing a new dynamic with the emergence of The Muslim Vote (TMV), a campaign targeting constituencies with a significant Muslim electorate. Launched in December 2023, TMV has swiftly become a prominent voice advocating for policies that address the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Palestine.

At the heart of TMV's mission is the endorsement of candidates who support a ceasefire in Gaza, recognition of Palestine as a state, and stricter laws against UK trade with Israeli settlements. This stance has garnered support from influential Muslim organizations like the Muslim Association of Britain and the Muslim Council of Scotland, reflecting widespread concern within the Muslim community over humanitarian issues in Gaza.

TMV's impact extends beyond traditional party lines, emphasizing alignment with its policy priorities over party affiliation. This approach underscores a growing demand among Muslim voters for politicians who prioritize human rights and international justice, particularly concerning the Palestinian cause.

In the upcoming UK elections, several candidates are prominently involved in The Muslim Vote (TMV) campaign, advocating for Palestinian rights and supporting candidates aligned with its principles.

1. Wes Streeting - Shadow Health Secretary, endorsed by TMV despite controversies over Labour's stance on Gaza. He faces a challenge in Ilford North.

2. Leanne Mohamad - An independent candidate of British-Palestinian descent, challenging Streeting in Ilford North. Mohamad is supported by TMV for her vocal stance on Gaza and Palestinian rights.

3. Keir Starmer - Leader of the Labour Party, contesting in Holborn & St Pancras against independent candidate **Andrew Feinstein**, a critic of Starmer’s record on Gaza. Feinstein's candidacy is backed by TMV due to his advocacy for Palestinian rights.

4. Shockat Adam - Standing as an independent against Labour's Jon Ashworth in Leicester South. Adam is endorsed by TMV for his strong stance on supporting Palestinian rights and criticizing UK policy towards Gaza.

5. George Galloway - Representing the Workers Party of Britain in Rochdale. Galloway is known for his outspoken criticism of UK foreign policy, including issues related to Gaza.

6. Jeremy Corbyn - Former Labour leader, now an independent candidate in Islington North. Corbyn has long been associated with pro-Palestinian activism and is supported by TMV for his stance on Gaza.

7. Naz Shah, Afzal Khan, Yasmin Qureshi - Labour candidates endorsed by TMV for defying the party whip on Gaza issues in their respective constituencies.

8. Ed Davey - Leader of the Liberal Democrats, supported by TMV for his stance on Gaza and Palestine.

9. Tom Morrison - Liberal Democrat candidate challenging Conservative MP Mary Robinson in Cheadle. Morrison is backed by TMV due to his positions on Gaza and Palestinian rights.

These candidates reflect TMV's efforts to mobilize Muslim voters concerned with UK foreign policy and humanitarian issues in Gaza. Their endorsements highlight a significant push within electoral politics to address Palestinian rights and the UK's role in the Middle East.

TMV's influence within the Labour Party, historically supported by a majority of Muslim voters, has been pivotal. Recent controversies surrounding Labour's stance on Israel's actions in Gaza have strained this relationship. Under Keir Starmer's leadership, Labour has faced internal dissent and electoral challenges in constituencies with significant Muslim populations, highlighting a rift over foreign policy.

Critics, including Nigel Farage of Reform UK, have accused TMV of promoting divisive sectarian politics. TMV, however, asserts its non-partisan nature and commitment to representing diverse political views within the Muslim community. It emphasizes the importance of political engagement in addressing humanitarian crises like Gaza, rejecting claims of sectarianism.

As the election approaches, TMV's role in mobilizing Muslim voters and shaping candidate selection in key constituencies will be closely watched. The campaign's ability to galvanize support around issues of Palestine and Gaza reflects a broader shift in UK politics, where specific policy stances on international conflicts increasingly influence electoral outcomes.

In conclusion, TMV's advocacy on Palestine and Gaza underscores the growing influence of Muslim voters in UK politics. It signals a significant evolution in how international issues resonate domestically and underscores the imperative for political engagement centered on humanitarian principles.

Netanyahu Blasts Biden: Accuses US of Sabotaging Israel’s Gaza Offensive

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a fierce attack on the Biden administration, accusing it of undermining Israel's military efforts in Gaza by "withholding weapons" critical to their operations. Netanyahu's blunt condemnation paints the US as obstructing Israel's objectives in Gaza, effectively blaming Washington for hindering their offensive.

In a scathing video statement on Tuesday, Netanyahu declared it "inconceivable" that the United States had been blocking the delivery of weapons and ammunition to Israel for months. He recounted supposed reassurances from Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the delays would be resolved, but expressed clear frustration at the lack of concrete action.

The US, which annually provides Israel with $3.8 billion in military assistance, recently approved an additional $17 billion in April amid Israel's Gaza operations. Yet, Washington has stalled a crucial shipment of 900kg (2,000 pound) bombs, citing concerns over civilian casualties in densely populated Rafah. This pause, despite other weapons sales moving forward, including a $1 billion package and an $18 billion sale of 50 F-15 fighter jets, has sparked Netanyahu's ire.

Blinken attempted to reassure that the US remains committed to Israeli security, with arms transfers continuing regularly, except for the contested shipment under review due to potential civilian impact. The White House also countered Netanyahu’s claims, insisting only one shipment was paused and denying any broader withholding of support.

The Biden administration is under increasing pressure to halt military aid to Israel amid growing allegations of severe abuses in Gaza, including deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure, using starvation as a weapon, and torturing detainees. President Biden previously set a boundary in May, warning Israel against a major offensive in Rafah and withholding support for such operations. Despite this, Israel proceeded with its assault, displacing hundreds of thousands and closing the Rafah border crossing critical for humanitarian aid.

The Biden administration, attempting to downplay the scale of Israel's actions in Rafah, has described them as "limited operations," contrasting them with larger-scale assaults elsewhere in Gaza. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller's statements aim to mitigate criticism, despite the evident widespread displacement and suffering.

Netanyahu’s aggressive statements reflect a clear demand for unconditional US support, dismissing concerns about human rights violations and civilian casualties. His stance pressures the Biden administration to align fully with Israel's military objectives, regardless of the international outcry over the humanitarian impact.

Following these tensions, at least seven people were killed in a bombing by Israeli forces on tents in Gaza’s al-Mawasi ‘humanitarian zone.’ Gaza officials are demanding the release of 310 health workers they claim are being tortured, calling for an international investigation into the fate of dozens of "kidnapped" Palestinian health personnel. The UN has reported a "drastic deterioration" in aid flows to southern Gaza, causing panic and starvation.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has approved plans for an offensive in Lebanon as US envoy Amos Hochstein concluded his visit to Beirut. Since October 7, at least 37,372 people have been killed and 85,452 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza. The revised death toll in Israel from Hamas-led attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens still held captive in Gaza.

International Community Urged to Act: Addressing Humanitarian Crises and Accountability in Conflict Zones.

In recent developments highlighting the severity of humanitarian crises during armed conflicts, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has underscored the deliberate tactics of causing starvation as a method of warfare. This grave violation of international humanitarian law not only exacerbates suffering but also targets essential resources like water, crucial for the survival of civilian populations.

The ICRC’s case studies reveal alarming instances where armed conflicts have led to the destruction of water installations and hindered access to clean water, directly impacting millions of lives. Such actions, condemned under international law, not only violate the principles protecting civilian objects but also pose significant risks to public health and well-being.

Furthermore, recent reports from conflict zones, such as Gaza, shed light on the dire consequences of these tactics. Israel’s blockade and military actions have severely restricted access to water and sanitation facilities, leaving over two million Palestinians at risk of dehydration and waterborne diseases. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has called this a matter of 'life and death', urging immediate humanitarian intervention to avert further catastrophe.

Moreover, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has raised serious allegations against Israeli authorities, accusing them of using starvation as a weapon and calling for accountability at the highest levels. Despite these calls, international responses have been varied, with some countries expressing support for Israel and others demanding stronger action to uphold international humanitarian law.

In light of these developments, there is a pressing need for the international community to take decisive action. Countries must strengthen diplomatic efforts to enforce humanitarian law, ensure unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, and hold accountable those responsible for war crimes and violations against civilian populations. The ICC’s pursuit of justice serves as a crucial step towards establishing accountability and preventing future atrocities in conflict zones worldwide.

The ongoing crisis in Palestine demands urgent and decisive action from the international community. Governments must move beyond rhetoric and take concrete steps to enforce international humanitarian law, ensure humanitarian access to Gaza, and hold accountable those responsible for violations. Human rights groups and peacekeeping nations must amplify their efforts to advocate for justice and protection of civilian lives. The world cannot afford to remain silent in the face of such egregious violations of human rights and humanitarian law.

How can the international community overcome political inertia and effectively address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, ensuring accountability and justice for all parties involved?

New Reports: Israel Kills Its Own People in Gaza Raid

News reports from Al-Jazeera suggest a shocking development amidst the recent escalation of violence in Gaza: Israeli forces conducted a devastating raid on the Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in the death of 41 Israeli captives while only saving 4. This revelation has sent shockwaves through the international community, intensifying scrutiny and condemnation of Israeli actions, both domestically and internationally.

Eyewitness accounts paint a grim picture of the raid, with Israeli soldiers disguising themselves as displaced Palestinians and utilizing a truck loaded with furniture to infiltrate the area. Witnesses recount bombings of homes and violent confrontations, leaving civilians, including children, in terror.

The raid has left medical facilities overwhelmed, with Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza describing the aftermath as a "complete bloodbath." In response to these atrocities, Palestinian leaders are urgently calling for international intervention, emphasizing the ongoing struggle to enforce UN resolutions and secure a ceasefire.

Kenneth Roth, former executive director of Human Rights Watch, criticizes the insufficient international pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that continued military support from the United States effectively enables actions that some consider to be war crimes.

As the situation continues to unfold, questions persist about whether diplomatic pressures or more significant actions will be taken to address these urgent humanitarian concerns.

Coca-Cola's New Advertisement Sparks Outrage in Bangladesh:

Dhaka, Bangladesh - Coca-Cola's latest television commercial has ignited a wave of anger and controversy among the people of Bangladesh.
The advertisement, which aired recently, depicts individuals hesitating to drink Coke without articulating their reasons, while a shopkeeper defends the beverage, highlighting Coca-Cola's presence in Palestine and various other countries. The ad concludes by encouraging viewers to drink coke and seek their own answers.

The advertisement's timing is particularly contentious, as the soft drinks giant has a fraught history with the Middle East. From 1967 to 1991, Coca-Cola faced an official boycott by the Arab League due to its establishment of a bottling plant in Israel. Today, amidst renewed tensions and widespread calls for boycotts on social media, Coca-Cola's branding is again under scrutiny.

This development raises significant questions about public reception. How will people respond to this advertisement in an era where millions worldwide are participating in boycotts against the brand?
With many saying that boycotting works and are urging people to continue. And many are criticizing the actors for doing such a work. The answer remains to be seen, but the initial backlash in Bangladesh indicates a challenging road ahead for Coca-Cola in navigating these sensitive geopolitical waters.

Israel has been placed on a United Nations blacklist for its violations of children's rights during armed conflicts

Israel's massacre at Nuseirat Refugee Camp.

The recent escalation of violence in Gaza has culminated in a devastating raid by Israeli forces on the Nuseirat refugee camp, leading to significant international backlash. Following this attack, Israel has been placed on a United Nations blacklist for its violations of children's rights during armed conflicts, a position it now shares with groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda. A report by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that despite extensive efforts by Israel to persuade Guterres to avoid this move, Tel Aviv will be listed in the report distributed to UN Security Council members next week, with a discussion scheduled for 26th June. The UN Security Council is now under pressure to respond to these actions, although the likelihood of tangible consequences remains uncertain.

In the Nuseirat camp, witnesses reported that Israeli soldiers disguised themselves as displaced Palestinians, using a truck loaded with furniture to infiltrate the area. "They bombed my house, as well as my brother’s and the neighbors’," one witness recounted. Another detailed how soldiers used ladders to enter homes under the guise of moving in, resulting in a violent confrontation that left civilians, including children, in terror.

The raid has left the medical facilities in Gaza overwhelmed. Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza has been described as a "complete bloodbath" by doctors, struggling to cope with the influx of injured, particularly women and children. The death toll from the raid stands at 226, with more than 400 wounded. This incident adds to the staggering numbers reported since the conflict intensified on October 7, with over 36,800 Palestinians killed and more than 83,000 injured. In Israel, 1,139 people have died from Hamas's attacks, and dozens remain captive in Gaza.

The Palestinian leadership is now calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, urging international intervention to address what they describe as Israeli aggression. This plea for action highlights the ongoing struggle to enforce UN resolutions and secure a ceasefire.

Kenneth Roth, former executive director of Human Rights Watch, emphasized the critical yet insufficient international pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Roth criticized U.S. President Joe Biden for not backing his calls for humanitarian considerations with concrete actions. "He continues supplying the arms and the military aid that is used to bomb and starve Palestinian civilians," Roth said, suggesting that Biden's support effectively greenlights Netanyahu's strategies, which some argue amount to war crimes.

Additionally, reports suggest that an American hostage unit was present alongside Israeli soldiers during the raid which killed 210 civilians and injured over 400 people. Special forces hid inside aid truck to infiltrate Nuseirat refugee Camp. The global community was always highly suspicious of this pier, and this report would certainly confirm many doubts. This adds another layer of complexity to the international response and scrutiny.

As the situation continues to unfold, the global community watches closely, questioning whether diplomatic pressures or more substantial actions will follow to address these grave humanitarian concerns.
