If I’m being honest, even when I was in my Glitter Force phase it did feel very childish to watch it. Too much cheese, honestly. Even the villains felt like they lacked conviction and sounded like they came straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon. And lots of telling and no showing because kids apparently need everything spelled out for them. “GLITTER BOOTS!!” yes we can clearly see that you’re transforming. Thank you.
Smile Precure is way more subtle and they actually feel like real people. Yayoi’s relationship with her dad tugs at my heartstrings because I’m just as close with my own father. It’s actually sad they had to remove it because it’s “too deep”. I honestly hope we get an official redub or something cuz we honestly could’ve had it all.

Ngl the old videos we watched last night took me back. Were they perfect? No, but that was the charm of them. It was about having fun and being authentic, something very rare these days.
And look how far we’ve gotten. A near decade later and social media took a turn for the worse. Entitlement, judgment, people talking to each other like wild animals because a post/comment didn’t cater to their feelings of inadequacy instead of clicking off. Now people are bracing themselves during the calm before the storm. A very sad world we live in now.
