It really hit a nerve. I get it though and I would do the same in his place, it's fair, no doubt. Still...can't help but feel my stomach sink to the floor.
As many, I found him due to his FNaF theories. Though I'm not very active on that fandom, I'm always there for his theories. I was there when the audio was questionable, like the graphics. When the jokes were doofy, but still drew a smile on my face.
He inspired me, as a living embodiement of what I am: a nerd who tends to overthink things, especially those which I love. He taught me the tools, and then, the rest is history...
"Everyone can be a theorist.." Sure we can...and I cannot thank you enough for it. For all your years teaching us how to learn from what we love. You pushed me to write deeper stories, getting in your shoes, thinking "what would MatPat look for? How do I pick his curiousity?" How a character like you would react to a world covered in mystery.
As a Theorist, I got some right, and shared by the author, I've earned my jacket and...even if I'm not a big channel, I'll still carry on your legacy, your teachings, and the validation you gave me, unknowingly.
Being a nerd, a geek, it's not a badge of shame, but one of pride. All thanks to you.
May your succesors reign with the same wisdom you did.
