The Initiative on Islam and Medicine seeks to 'Instill Hikmah in Healthcare."
II&M explores the ways in which the Islamic tradition encounters modern medicine. We study Muslim health behaviors and design community based health interventions and produce the research needed to inform policy decisions to allow the healthcare system to better accommodate Muslim patients' needs.
We also bring together physicians, healthcare practitioners, Islamic scholars, traditional jurisconsults, social scientists and bioethicists to discuss the intersections of religion, health policy, law, and bioethics as they relate to medicine in both theory and practice. By doing so, we hope to help train the next generation of leaders to bring hikmah into healthcare.
