The Fall of Nzeogwu: The End of a Revolutionary Soldier (1967)
On August 2, 1967, Nigerians woke up to the shocking headline: "NZEOGWU KILLED!" Major Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, the bold, young and radical soldier who led the January 15, 1966 coup, was reported dead, killed in battle by Federal troops during the Nigerian Civil War.
Nzeogwu, once a bold revolutionary who sought to rid Nigeria of corruption, had found himself on the opposite side of history. When war broke out in July 1967, he fought alongside Biafran forces under Odumegwu Ojukwu, despite earlier tensions between them. His death reportedly occurred 22 miles from Enugu, a key stronghold in the war.
This front-page story captures the chaotic early months of the Nigerian Civil War, with Federal troops advancing, rebel aircraft being shot down, and oil firms facing scrutiny from the UK government. Meanwhile, a "White Horse Scotch Whisky" ad sits on the same page, an eerie reminder of how war and commerce often coexisted in history.
Nzeogwu remains one of Nigeria's most controversial figures, a hero to some, a villain to others. But one thing is certain: his name is forever etched in Nigeria's history.

To conclude is to ROUND OFF (not round up).
'Round up' means gathering people to a place.
I rounded up my friends for a birthday party.
Onset is the beginning of something unpleasant while outset is the beginning of something pleasant.

A. I passed my English language exam in the first attempt.
OR
B. I passed my English language exam at the first attempt.
Both are correct.
But if you are sitting UTME, pick B. Because A is chiefly an American English while B is British English. Nigeria, as a country, has preference for British English.
This year, you can kill UTME English at the first attempt. Ask me about the 200 curated English questions and answers to set your journey in motion for unprecedented success in UTME English.

Is Mothering Sunday same as Mother's Day?
Mothering Sunday and Mother's Day are related but not exactly the same. While they both involve honouring mothers and maternal figures, they have different origins and traditions:
Mothering Sunday:
- Mothering Sunday is a Christian holiday celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent in the United Kingdom and some other countries.
- It originated as a day for people to return to their "mother" church, the main church in their area, for a special service. Over time, it became a day to honor mothers and maternal figures.
- Mothering Sunday has religious roots and is linked to the Lenten season.
Mother's Day:
- Mother's Day is a secular holiday celebrated on various dates depending on the country, typically in May.
- It originated in the United States in the early 20th century as a day to honor mothers and motherhood.
- Mother's Day is not associated with any specific religious observance and is celebrated primarily as a day to show appreciation for mothers through gifts, cards, and special gestures.
While the two holidays share similarities in honouring mothers, they have different historical backgrounds and cultural contexts. However, in some countries, the terms "Mothering Sunday" and "Mother's Day" are used interchangeably, leading to some confusion.
