"Mumbai" - The name derives from patron Goddess Mumba Devi (Maha + Ambai). She is worshipped by primitive inhabitants / native fisherfolks "koli's" of this ancient land and previous 7 sister island, Mumbai.

This koli tribe is mainly engaged in traditional fishing along the coast of Mumbai city & adjacent coastal regions. The culture, dance, folk songs, language, cuisines, festival celebrations of koli's is unique & popular world wide.
