After spending years learning how other creators make videos, I’m now on the other side of a podcast 🤓 definitely a different thing to answer questions than ask them 😅
But its been a super interesting conversation with Val from @orbitforcreators who has been growing a community of creators, especially here in Europe.
This episode is a mix of my background, why I deleted the viral video of 18 mil views, how I study other creators’ works and where I’m going next.

What I learned from starting a new channel:
Last year I started 2 new channels as an experiment.
So, what has happened in the meantime?
For Creators:
@creatorsecrets, which is the continuation of this channel and ofcourse, the podcast.
I re-uploaded my last videos there to test how the algorithm would handle my content on a fresh channel. And I was surprised to see that a few videos even did better than when I posted them here...
If you are in the same situation of feeling a huge disconnect with your videos and the audience that youtube pushes your content too, it might be a good time to try something like this ☺️ That channel grew 1000 subscribers in 2 months... Something that took 2 years with this channel. Having focus really pays of my peeps 🙋🏻♂️
For Climate action:
Secondly, I started @tomsplanb . This channel is about climate change and my take on what we can do to find a way forward. It started of with a (huge) beach cleanup in Albania (that video already got 27K views on a brand new channel 🥹). I'm also testing with Youtube Shorts and learning the ins and outs of shortform storytelling (more on that in the near future).
For my Mental health:
I must admit making videos for Tom's Plan B have felt so refreshing. In stead of teaching about filmmaking and youtube, I actually get to craft something myself and apply what I learned over the years. Some cuts might feel rusty and it definitely is a whole new chapter for me, so don't be too hard on me there please 😅
But in helicopter view I'm so glad I did it. It gave me confidence I still know what I'm doing and more over, it taught me that strategy and understanding your metrics really is important.
What's New?
I'm starting some new shortform content on this channel: The Odyssey Diaries. This will always be my safe haven and my Youtube playground. For the ones still reading this, thanks for riding it out with me! I hope to see you all soon again with my mini vlogs on this channel 🤗

This is one of the best Christmas gifts I could have hoped for. And you guys are the 🍒 on the 🎂!!
Months of working myself into the yt algorithm again, playing with thumbnail designs and title variations with little views to show for upon release of a new video.
Youtube is a hard game to play. But what makes it even more worth it, is you guys showing up for every video, commenting or sending me pms and reminding me it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about real people like you (you know who you are).
This is the last video I posted and it’s nowhere near of “going viral”. But it’s the first video in a while that’s getting recognized by the AI as worthy to the yt gods.
Pour yourself a fresh one, you helped me in making this a reality again 🍻
On to 2022 with some fresh bangers 🥳
