The Beekeeping Engineer - don't we all want to redesign a bit of beekeeping equipment? well we did it! we made it clean, quick and efficient.
The American's had a really basic version of the twin roller uncapper and we thought we could improve it, while keeping it simple. So we resized it to fit the National frames, improved the layout of the blades by changing the pitch and thickness to maximise efficiency and mounted it on a standard box to act as a drip tray.
The drive wheels are recessed on the outside of the ends, keeping them out of the honey and propolis, and we played around with multiple nitrile bands so you can adjust the amount of force applied to the cutting blades.
In trials it is fast, uncaps a frame in seconds, the drips stay in the box and destroys 8 times less wax then using a knife. It also works extremely effectively at uncapping!
