Why whitewashing exists and blackwashing doesnt (I will try and explain as much as I can)
Why whitewashing exists:people make black characters white because they think it is “ugly” or “dirty”, therefore being extremely racist. Plus white people weren’t oppressed for years and didn’t have to fight for rights nor do they not have representation, they didn’t face racism and still dont (not as much as black people still do)
Why blackwashing doesn’t exist: “blackwashing” is done to add representation, there are no racist intents behind it. It is the exact opposite of why whitewashing is done and the term was probs created by some white person to silence black people and make it seem like white people can face as much racism as black people can.
