So, the video for Final Fantasy 13 should have come out today.
It's ready, I have an MP4 file rendered, but I'm not happy with the audio quality. I meant to re-take the start of the video BUT i'm down with winter flu and my voice is still croaky. Hoping to have time to do the edits tomorrow.
But if anyone wants to catch up, 12 episodes of my YT marathon are available online now, and the Final Fantasy marathon will conclude shortly!
Happy new year!

Sonic Adventure is 25 years old, and it's a game that will always have my heart. A wrote a retrospective about my relationship with the game 2 years ago and I'd love it if anyone who missed it the first time around checked it out:

Wow! The Year of the JRPG has treated us well as we soar past 500 subscribers!
My Marathon of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters is complete - but before I move onto the next generation of Playstation 1 titles I'd like to point you to an old video I made 2 years ago that shows just how badly Square Enix has mangled their gaming legacy. Final Fantasy 'All the Bravest' is an insult to the franchise, and though it finally went offline this year, lost forever to the annals of Mobile Gaming history - I encourage you to find how just how low this great series can sink!

The Year of the JRPG has been good to this channel as we home in on 500 subscribers!
Next up if Final Fantasy 6 - and a double length retrospective coming later today, but if you haven't had a moment to do it let please check out the retrospective of Final Fantasy V and get my overall thoughts on the role of grinding combat in RPG games. This is the only classic game where I think your stance on 'the grind' is a dealbreaker!

ATTEMPTED CONSOLE NECROMANCY!
Happy Halloween everyone! I had an idea for a really interesting FF based Halloween video but no time to produce so, maybe there's next year. Instead, I invite all my new subscribers to look back at my first ever Halloween video - a look back at my favourite quirky touchscreen horror game - Severed! Please consider checking it out, both my video and, if your interest is piqued, the game!

Am delighted with how the first episode of my Final Fantasy marathon retrospective has gone down! If you haven't seen the video please do watch and let me know what you'd like to see in future videos. I held out releasing this first entry until I had pretty much finished replaying every 2D game in the series. The Year of the JRPG is now 3 quarters done and I still have so many more games to get through!

Last week @GenerationPixel l asked for 1 game to rule them all! And I was delighted to contribute a left field submission (i.e. a game everyone respects but I alone seem to LOVE. (You'll have to check his channel to see which game that is!)
I was delighted to see @davidretrogamesplayedbadly3533 nominate Shining Force in the comments because - why not- it really is a great game. If you haven't checked it out I HIGHLY recommend putting your retro goggles on and looking back!

A sudden uptick of people watching my video from last year wondering why I struggled with western RPG game mechanics. Maybe it's because of my recent drive towards JRPG games in 2023 - or perhaps something else external. Either way - if you can help me work out what's wrong with Western games please do let me know!

In 2018 video gaming became the worlds single most popular form of entertainment however that does not mean other forms are dead or deserve to be forgotten. We have been fortunate enough to reap the benefits of an evolving industry that learns from both it's successes and mistakes - and I've been learning as a consumer. This series is designed to celebrate and share important milestones and significant releases; be they good or bad.
