ITâS THE HOUSEWIVES!
Before there were ârealâ ones. Before there wereâ desperate' ones, there were the originals: THE HOUSEWIVES
A quirky âgirl groupâ with a unique blend of comedy and music, that gained popularity in the eighties and early nineties with what they called âDomestic Rock and Rollâ. Dedicated to the concept of glorifying the mundane, no chore was too menial, or subject too absurd to be turned into a song.
With tunes like âCall A Repairmanâ, âBe My Babysitterâ, âIâve Been Defrosting All Dayâ and âIroning Boredâ, their music spanned many genres including Blues, Rock, Motown and New Wave. They soon began appearing regularly on National Television shows and in rock clubs and comedy venues drawing huge crowds and loyal followers. The Housewives went through a few incarnations, beginning in 1982. The version that gained the most traction consisted of Hope Juber (the creator of The Housewives), Maggie Mayall (wife of Blues legend John Mayall) and Lisa Harrison.
