The aims of The Donkey Sanctuary are to prevent the suffering of donkeys worldwide through the provision of high quality, professional advice, training and support on donkey welfare.
Since we opened our gates in 1987, The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland has loved and cared for over 5,600 neglected and abandoned donkeys from across Ireland.
Today we have over 1,700 donkeys and mules in our care. Over 530 of these donkeys reside in private Guardian homes throughout the country as part of our Rehoming Scheme and the remainder of the donkeys are based at our four farms in the Liscarroll area.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we can continue to make a positive difference to the lives of donkeys all around the country.
