A message to my friends on Patreon...
A behind the scenes snapshot of what I get up to while editing together a new video. This is one of the more complex video editing timelines I've put together in recent months. My best guess is this video, WJS#36 has taken me in the neighborhood of 10-12 hours of video editing. I'm not the fastest editor in the world - which is only magnified by the fact that I tend to be somewhat of a perfectionist.
But anyway, the video is officially finished and rendering as I type this. You can expect the new episode to go live on the YouTube channel some time tomorrow.
Thanks so much for sticking with me here on Patreon. It's your support that allows me to dedicate more time to creating high-quality video lessons and to grow my skillset as an amateur video maker.
You guys are the best! :)

I bought a new bass! 🔥🔥🔥
I'm playing a Squire Affinity Jazz Bass that I picked up brand new from Cash Converters this past Friday. I'm aware that Fender purists turn their noses up at Squires for whatever reason (this bass sounds incredible to me), but this beauty was so cheap I just couldn't let it slip through my fingers. I do understand that this model is an entry-level, cheap, budget-friendly instrument - but again, I think it sounds amazing! *
*Please Note: In this video I'm running it through my newly-acquired Sansamp Bass Driver DI (v2)*
I bought this instrument for several reasons:
1. I don't own a decent 4-string fretted bass (I do own a rubbish one!)
2. I wanted a good 4-string fretted bass for private teaching
3. I've never owned a passive bass. All my basses have active electronics
4. Many visitors of the YouTube channel struggle with videos that feature the 5-string and even the fretless, and want to learn from videos that feature a bass guitar similar to theirs
5. Like reason #4, I've been wanting to do more bass transcriptions / covers on the channel but didn't want to use the 5-string
So, I hope you enjoy the debut video for my new bass! I have also filmed another Early Beginner Bossa Bass lesson with this bass earlier today. It should be posted to the channel later this week.
I hope you all had a great weekend,
Jared

I've been playing bass for over 20 years, and this afternoon I bought my first bass pedal! I absolutely love it, and I'm excited to use it for some Audioslave and Rage covers.
What was your first bass pedal? Let me know in the comments! :)

I just wrapped up Day 1 of The Push-Up Challenge. 96 push-ups down, 3048 to go!
In 2021, 3144 Australians lost their lives to suicide. I lost my cousin, Matthew to suicide in 2014. This is why I've decided to take up the challenge this year and push for better mental health.
I will be completing the full 3144 push-ups starting today, June 1, and concluding June 23. I will be following the programmed daily totals on The Push-Up Challenge website to a "T". Tomorrow I'll be doing 130. [Day 14 has 218! That'll be fun!]
If you are interested in supporting me in this challenge, please visit my fundraising page below. There is absolutely no obligation to donate - encouraging me not to give up is great support too, I know I'm going to need it! :) But if you can give - even if it's just a few dollars - that's awesome and you're an absolute legend!
I'll be posting daily 'progress shorts' throughout the challenge - none on Sundays as that's a scheduled rest day. Let's kick mental health in the teeth. See you tomorrow!
