The Alaska Zoo is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit organization located on 25 wooded acres in the hillside area of Anchorage, Alaska. We opened our doors in 1969 with a mission to care for orphaned and injured animals and this is still our mission over 50 years later. We are dedicated to promoting conservation of Arctic, sub-Arctic and like climate species through education, research and community enrichment. We receive no city, state or federal funding so we rely on revenue from visitors, sponsors, businesses and donations from individuals like you!
