United Patients Alliance (UPA) was founded in 2011 as Action 4 MS and rebranded into UPA in 2014 with the help of Caroline Lucas and Professor David Nutt. People with serious illnesses are being denied medicine on the NHS and instead have to fund it themselves or remain criminals.
Many people are forced to take matters into their own hands and as a result are criminalised and could face up to 14 years in prison.
The UPA believes that the medical benefits of cannabis need to be recognised.
Our aims are to...
- Raise awareness of the medical benefits of cannabis
- Reinstate medical necessity for cannabis court cases
- Remove cannabis from schedule two of the misuse of drugs act, to be placed in schedule 4 like sativex.
- Allow for doctors to legally recommend cannabis to patients
- Grant 'Medical Cannabis Dispensaries and Patients Home Office Cultivation Licenses'
