Matheus Fonseca is an atypical creator of the new generation of Brazilian popular music. He moves from bossa nova to bolero, reggae to jazz, seamlessly blending languages and instrumental experimentation. A composer of his entire work, Matheus hails from Rio de Janeiro, and his identity as a Latin American troubadour is shaped by his experiences living in various countries, which influence his fusion music with an international cultural vibe.
In 2023, he won the Luiz Melodia Award for Afro-Brazilian Music with “A Raiz”, and in 2024, took second place at the Festival Nacional da Canção with “Rua A (Siricutico)”. His latest album, “Latitude Zero (Vol. 1)”, recorded in Quito, literally on the equator line, blends Brazilian influences with sophisticated, immersive sounds. Matheus Fonseca is a Brazilian of the world, with an open soul and eyes on the horizon, making music his path and life his greatest inspiration.
