And Another Video Gets Taken Down For...Reasons...
Yesterday...despite having survived the You Tube copyright checking process during uploading over a month ago, YT officially blocked the "Batman ('89): Michael Keaton Late Night with David Letterman appearance (media coverage, June 1989)" video due to vague copyright claims.
Ah, yes...nothing like getting a video removed that is available on other channels (in lesser, non-HD quality).
Guess we'll have to think twice before uploading anymore classic Letterman clips. Which is unfortunate as we have some truly great ones...

A Slight Content Detour...for the Holidays...
Just a quick note for those who may be concerned about the last few days of content uploads and the deviation from our "normal" content. In short...certain family members and significant others have begun to demand that we start to include more than just action figures, science fiction and horror related pop culture on this channel.
So...we have.
And because tis the season to be jolly...we're also ramping up the Christmas content. After all, this is the only time of year anyone really wants to see that stuff. Right? None of this "Countdown to Christmas" starting the week before Halloween Hallmark stuff.
Anyway...not to worry, there is plenty of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and commercial-related goodness coming including the long-awaited arrival of content from both Star Trek and Star Wars.
And you know we're going to bring the awesome for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Trust us...

The Unlisting of Older Content
As we are actively remastering a lot of content by way of HD upscaling, we have decided to unlist a lot of our previously uploaded content to make way for the new 1080p versions. Currently this only being done for most of the older commercials on the channel uploaded between 2013 and 2017. As most have fairly high view counts, we opted not to delete them completely but to simply reclassify them as "unlisted."
Rest assured...ALL of the unlisted commercials will be back in the weeks and months ahead along with a cornucopia of brand new, rarely seen TV spots and other television sourced nostalgia.
Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Slight Pumping of the Breaks...for Now...
After some internal discussion, we have decided to change up the upload schedule while the strike remains in effect. So, until the strike is lifted in early 2025...we're going to be holding back some of the specials, featurettes and music videos that we'd normally be uploading to the channel.
But not to worry...in their place will be an avalanche of commercials, promos and other pop culture curiosities that, we're sure, many will appreciate and enjoy just as much. Especially since it appears, at least on the surface, that the shorter TV spots have a tendency to outperform the longer content.
Nuff said. Now on with the show...

And...STRIKE ONE...
Yes, seems that despite the intrepid You Tube Hive Mind that scans all uploaded videos for verboten content giving it a clean, all shiny and chrome rating...apparently Wakko, Yakko and Dot got their collective panties in a bunch this morning at the water tower and, thusly, the Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins animated special is no longer available to view in all its half-assed, horribly animated glory on this channel.
Now you'll have to take a deep dive into your local Walmart $5 cut-out bin and fish out the lame excuse for a blu ray if you want to subject yourself to it. Whatever. We at the Intermission Society certainly can't condone nor condemn such actions as we ourselves have done worse when it comes to seeking out the weird, warped and whatdaf**k in pop culture.
Not to worry, gang...we're still here and we still have plenty to share.

And With That, the Intermission Society Halloween Special 2024 Has Been CANCELLED Due to Copyright Issues...
Indeed. Copyright Issues...gotta love 'em. Understandable, since we don't own nor claim to own any of the clips we upload here on the channel. Our mission isn't the creation of media, no... our mission is the preservation of media. Old, dated and long forgotten media that the mega corporations (or the few that remain) either don't realize they own or are, frankly, too ignorant or stupid to realize they could be making money off of. Sure, one could say saving this stuff isn't our responsibility and yes, some could even say it's arrogant of us to attempt to try. We've been called worse, believe us.
Today is October 31st. And to celebrate, we wanted to upload a real rare gem. A Halloween-centric music video variety special that aired in syndication Halloween week back in 1984 called...Vincent Price's Halloween Thriller. Hosted, obviously, by Vincent Price, the special is a glorious slice of early 80's cheese complete with Price being Price, bizarre "magic" skits, an ominous voice over announcer and chock-a-block with early 80's horror or Halloween themed music videos from the likes of Greg Kihn Band (Jeopardy), Rockwell (Somebody's Watching Me), Sheena Easton (Telefon), Eddie Money (I Think I'm In Love), Ozzy Osbourne (Bark at the Moon), Ray Parker Jr. (Ghostbusters) and Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. Cause including Thriller would have been too obvious.
Well...at least six of those videos racked up enough copyright violations to get the upload blocked worldwide.
Guess we should have seen that coming.
Why are we announcing this to our subscribers? Cause we can. Because some of you might even appreciate the transparency.
Well...try and enjoy what we're actually able to upload today and in the days ahead. And remember to stay safe out there tonight and, if you're one of the lucky kids with a Silver Shamrock mask, make sure to make it back in time for The Big Giveaway at 9pm.
Happy Halloween,
The Intermission Society

The Intermission Society is dedicated to preserving the weird, the bizarre and the inspired moments that have come and gone through the last thirty years of pop culture.
