I'd just like to take a minute to wish all of my viewers and subscribers a Happy New Year, and thank you all for your support. I just got a notification yesterday saying I've hit 1,000 hours of watch time, which is super amazing to hear. Thank you all so much!
Please stay tuned and look forward to more in the coming year and those to come thereafter, as this channel is where I hope to include my life's martial arts journey, and so far this has only been the beginning.
May 2025 bring you health, happiness and accomplishment. 🙏

Recently had the honor of getting to try out some Italian Rapier fencing with a great teacher, with whom I share a mutual friend.
Depicted is not us fighting (no headgear of course lol) but a teaching moment. We weren't using the Rapiers just here. But that was primarily what we did.
Coming from a worldwide group called the SCA, Society for Creative Anachronism, it was my pleasure to cross blades with this swordsman of over a decade of experience in various styles of European swordsmanship, and who has in just our first session, and hopefully more to come, helped me learn about a whole new kind of swordplay.
There is much I can continue to learn here, that will both outright allow me to play in this new way, as well as bring alot back home to my Jian work.
Looking forward to more! ⚔️🔥 ⚔️

Over the past few years, on and off, but much more on as of the last year or so, I've been adding BJJ to my modest repertoire of things I do.
And over the years prior, I've certainly known of it and observed it from afar, but I never really thought it would be for me, per se. Not that I didn't think it was effective. Clearly it has proven itself, and despite my few misunderstandings about it, I could at least see that much.
But I just didn't really see it as a "fit" for me. Being as I wasn't looking to fight or even get down so rough in the game of something like that. I like to do forms and weapon play. Basically to just move. That was what I enjoyed and found peace in. Actual fighting wasn't really all too high on my list. Even though I did want to substantiate my movements with at least some conceptual knowledge of combative engagement.
One day, I went down to my local MMA gym, not this school here yet, in Summer of when I was 26 (30 now). I was doing Capoeira which was also something I was a couple years into, but it was only Monday and Wednesday. So I went looking for something for the other week days, and intended to go for some Muay Thai.
Problem was the gym's Muay Thai classes turned out to be on the same days I had Capoeira. But they did have Jiu Jitsu on the other days. So... I reluctantly gave it a try.
This was a grittier, no-gi only mma gym so the jiu jitsu was particularly rough. Though at the time I had nothing else to compare it to. So needless to say, come the end of class, I was absolutely murdered out there. I have never felt so helpless and so powerless in my life. If these guys wanted me dead I'd be dead. That was my realization. It was extremely humbling. But I also wanted that power lol. At least a part of me did.
So I continued that Summer with them to the detriment of my body but, at the same time, the thoughening of it, and my mind as well. This is what I needed. This is huge. And it didn't take long for me to be glad I found this new game to play.
Then, long story short, this school here opened up and I then joined them. This is my current school, the Ferreira Family Fight Academy, where I continued my Jiu Jitsu in a bit of a better-paced learning environment for me, up to this day. And where I will continue for the foreseeable future.
This has been my first big benchmark of progress here. And I will be keeping at it. Also big thanks to my professor and all my training partners! Let's all keep improving together. This is only the beginning...
My channel here, if nothing else, is a little record of what I do. So I just thought I would share.
Also let me know if you would be interested at all in seeing some Jiu Jitsu content on here from time to time. Maybe I can do a narrated roll here and there or show some tournament footage or something. Mix it up a little, y'know? "^_^
I'm in this video at 10:39.
