breaking the hiatus with how i decided to change my obviously flawed and controversial horror game tier list i posted last year
first of all, some actually fair Outlast rankings (they were previously all thrown into F tier unfairly):
Outlast - C tier
the game still has a lot of flaws regarding both the atmosphere and the gameplay loop, but after replaying it i realized that i completely overlooked how great the story is in it. it ended up being the same thing as SOMA for me, where the storyline is great, but the actual horror aspect leaves a lot to be desired. its also too short.
Outlast Whistleblower - B tier
out of the outlast plots, this ones easily my favorite. not only did the developers fix a lot of the flaws the original game had, but they improved greatly on the horror aspects. the 2nd half of the game genuinely made me feel uneasy and Eddie Gluskin is still one of the most terrifying villains in my eyes. now why is it ranked so low? because to get to this story you still need to play the boring main game. also its too short.
ill update the other 2 outlast games once i actually play them
