Today, longtime KPRC 2 News anchor Dominique Sachse signed-off for the final time in her 28-year career at the station. Thank you, Dominique, for the impact that you made in the Houston area for nearly 30 years. Enjoy your retirement!!

My next news open montage I have planned will be KTRK ABC 13, Houston's news leader. I'm not going to start it immediately; it will be done whenever the station gets new graphics.
Here's the thing I don't like about KTRK: They've been using the same graphics package for 7 years--since April 27, 2015--and those graphics have not aged well at all. The previous graphics package that KTRK had was used for 9 years--2007-2015--and were tweaked several times during its use, almost the same way that the station is treating the current package. To make matters worse, some elements of the current package can still fit 4:3 TV screens in 2021(!). This makes me wonder what the deal is with updating graphics often at that station. The good news is, there are a handful of other stations that have used the same graphics package longer than KTRK, and ABC's new O&O standardized graphics package is coming to this station (and other ABC O&O's) soon, hopefully this year (fingers crossed!).
The music for ABC 13's newscasts is outdated too. Fingers crossed for new music very soon as well!

I have some very sad news for those who've come to know and love the game show "Jeopardy!": The show's longtime host for 37 years, Alex Trebek, has passed away after more than a year of battling pancreatic cancer, as confirmed by the show today; he was 80 years old. Personally Trebek has grown to be one of my favorite game show hosts of all time because of so many memorable moments (they all include Trebek schooling contestants who struck out on a football-related category, the memorable "We Love You Alex" answer in "Final Jeopardy!", and there are others) and contestants (including Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, James Holzhauer--a.k.a. "Jeopardy James", and others). My favorite Trebek-hosted show other than "J!" is "Classic Concentration", which I watch on Buzzr from time to time, whether at 12 noon (CST) or 1 A.M. in the late night/early morning. Trebek also hosted "The Wizard of Odds" (which was Trebek's first show in the U.S.), "High Rollers", "Double Dare" (completely unrelated to the 1986 Nickelodeon game show of the same name), "Battlestars", "The $128,000 Question" and "Pitfall". My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, as Alex Trebek will be truly and dearly missed. Godspeed
