My journey into eating millets began during the lockdown. I grew up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a city where we embraced fast food culture.
In 2022, like many others, my family and I found ourselves cooking more and gaining weight. Concerned about our health especially during the peak corona season, I started learning about millets.
Unlike a few decades ago, I noticed that many farmers had stopped growing and consuming millets. After learning from and being inspired by the efforts of food scientist Khader Vali, who promotes millet cultivation and consumption, I decided to give it a try. It helped me and my family lose weight, and we were happy to see the results. After reading numerous articles about the benefits of millets, I realized its importance, especially in combating obesity and micronutrient deficiencies.
Over the past two years, I've influenced my entire family and friends to adopt millets into their diets. As a result, everyone started calling me the "millet mom."
