1. Renew your dedication:
Living the dream is a life-long commitment to stand up for justice and speak out about inequity. Let us continue the fight for Civil Rights, for diversity and inclusion, tor the beloved community King dreamed about.
“We must work unceasingly to lift this nation that we love to a higher destiny, to a new plateau of compassion, to a more noble expression of humaneness.”
2. Keep on serving:
King saw service as the path to greatness. By serving others we empower ourselves. MLK day is a day of national service. Ask yourself, “How might I best serve? Where can I make a difference today and every day?
“Everybody can be great because anybody can serve...You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love."
3. Expand your reach:
In today’s political and economic divide ask yourself, "How can I reach out to others? Where is the common ground? Can we unite around a vision of a better world for our children and future generations?.
“Let us stand with a greater determination...In these days of challenge , let us make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make a better nation.”
4. The Urgency of Now!
Today there are so many issues to tackle: gun violence, global warming, economic inequity, immigration,. We can get overwhelmed. But each one of us can make a difference. What are you passionate about? where can you make your mark.? King urged us to act NOW!
