Chang’an and Chinese Buddhism is a documentary series newly made this year, for helping people to understand better the history of ancient Chang’an, its culture and the essence of Chinese Buddhism, including the history of the six schools. This series is filmed in real scene, and divided into 7 parts: Characters in Chang’an Buddhism, Buddhist monasteries, schools, classics, literature, arts, and history, which systematically explains and reveals Chang’an and Chinese Buddhism.
Presented by Prof. Wu Yansheng, famous Zen scholar in China, Director, Doctoral advisor of literature department of Shannxi Normal University, Doctor in Literature and Postdoctor in Philosophy, he has long been devoted to the relevant research of Zen Philosophy and Buddhist poetry.
吴言生,文学博士,哲学博士后,陕西师范大学文学院教授,博士生导师。著有禅学三书——《禅宗思想渊源》《禅宗哲学象征》《禅宗诗歌境界》,主编有《长安汉传佛教祖庭文化丛书》(6册)。曾作客东方卫视、中国教育电视台、凤凰卫视,讲授禅宗智慧系列专题。
