The Nature Of Our Biophilic Universe
The goal of this workshop is to bring together a selected group of physicists and philosophers of science to discuss modern topics in fundamental physics, astrophysics and cosmology that are of broad interest to philosophy and that would have interested Lemaître were he alive today. These include the physics and habitability of exoplanets, the conditions required for structure formation in cosmology, the emergence of complexity in our universe more generally, the nature of prediction and verification in multiverse theories and the role of the observer in (quantum) cosmology and in string theory.
