So it seems it will take a bit of time for a CM5 color issue to get worked out on the Raspberry Pi GitHub. They said they plan to fix it early in the year, and then it will take a long while for those changes to work their way downstream to other operating systems.

Sooo, im trying to figure out where to put my focus. Should I let all that work itself out and focus on other things? Should I design a Carrier v2 that eliminates the need for the color order change? Should I make a Carrier V2 that also puts the CM4/CM5 at the back of the shell? Should I focus on the universal carrier now that the CM5 is released?

Some of this assumes that the CM5 power usage and heat generation can be reined in. I have it working on the CM4 carrier, but lots of tests remain.

Hey everyone. The DPI Topper board has been out of stock for a while. I'm finally working on a new batch, and I've decided to make some improvements. I'd love to get your thoughts on this.

I'm planning to create a few different versions, and the one you see here is what I'm calling the "24-bit Solderless" version. Here's what it includes:
A header for easy Raspberry Pi connection
An MCU that provides 16 digital buttons and 2 joysticks
Dimmable backlight (controllable via the onboard button or an external one)
Touchscreen capability

This version uses all available GPIO pins for the best image quality.

I'm also considering other versions:
A "Slim" version that solders directly to the Pi
Versions without the MCU at a lower cost
A 21-bit version that enables audio and leaves 2 GPIOs free for other uses

I'm still ironing out the details, but I wanted to share this progress. Once the design is finalized, I'll make the GitHub repository public.

What do you think about these options? Which version would you be most interested in? Let me know in the comments.

PSPi 6 Availability

othermod.com/product/pspi-6-board/
Boards are going back in stock at 9am eastern. Backorders are open, so don't feel pressured to order immediately.
I adjusted the price of the PSPi 6, Headphone, and Carrier slightly to account for an increase in manufacturing and shipping costs.
The website may be sluggish for a few minutes after I hit the button.
My wife and I will ship as quickly as we can. It will take a few days (more for Solder Service) to get all of the orders out.
I also created a page spelling out the pre-shipment refund policy.

If you're in a position to add a $ tip to the order, it helps a lot. Don't feel obligated.
If you don't want a board, but like the project and want to support it, you can also support on Patreon

Just trying to get a feel for preference. Would you rather buy a lower cost board that requires a bit of smd soldering (connector and gold pads) and maybe flashing of firmware, or a higher cost board that requires no firmware flashing?

I'm doing prep work for the PSPi 6, and this will help me plan for what's next. I'll sell both solderless and soldered.

I'm doing a giveaway of a couple PSPi 6 prototype boards and headphone boards.
Here is the link to the Discord channel so you can enter. Some assembly required:

So nothing exploded when I switched it on...
The new prototypes are up and running, and the only issue I've encountered is with the headphone/speaker swapping, which I think that can be corrected with a small tweak to the headphone board.

The focus now is just on stress-testing and tweaking software and firmware.

I just posted another PSPi 6 video on the channel. This one answers most of the questions I received since posting the last one. Let me know what you think.

I'm working on a follow up video on the PSPi 6. Let me know below if there is anything specific you want to see.
The plan is to show what the install process looks like, and also give more details on the LCD, battery, joystick(s), and charging methods. I may also address some of the most popular comments from the last video, if time permits.
