Eastern Bluebird freezes for over 6 minutes tail feathers in the water on a very cold January morning, when a Hawk lands above it in a tree. Check out the video at https://youtu.be/WkrrAkjzvhU?si=QhX_C...

Dark-eyed Juncos, in January around here the fields and woods can be pretty quiet almost uninviting that is until the Juncos awake and their chirping and buzzing sounds fill the air. A winter favorite for me Jan-25

A different type of photo from me, pancake ice that has formed in this cove off the Coast of Maine. I took this last wknd, with the recent warm up I am sure it has melted but with cold weather ahead I wouldn’t be surprised if it starts to form again. Island off the Coast of Maine Dec 27th.

The Brown Creeper, a small but common bird that you really have look for. They blend into their surroundings, look for a bird climbing up the trunks of trees not down. If you head into the woods listen for the chirping sound they make, in the winter they are often found with flocks of Chickadees, Golden-crowned Kinglets, and red-breasted nuthatches. Maine Dec-24

Golden-crowned Kinglet, on a very cold morning 15f off the Coast of Maine. It still amazes me that these tiny birds can survive such harsh winters. I recently read an article on All About Birds that they are half the weight of a Chickadee. 12/26/24
