We are in trouble. Climate change, other environmental problems, and social challenges threaten our future. Instead of becoming desperate, we should start working together towards a better future.
The first law of holes states that when you are in a hole, stop digging. This is, of course, true even with climate changeâtrue but not enough. The only viable way of creating a better future is through sustainable business. Sustainable businesses have a positive impact on the world, are profitable, and grow.
This is exactly what I am exploring both as a lecturer in academia, and as a decision-maker in different businesses. While making exact predictions on the future is bound to fail, there are some very clear megatrendsâsustainability and digital transitionâwhich we can follow to find new opportunities and understand what we need to stop.
