We should all be more like Anna.
In a few days, I'm going to lose two world championship titles - one after the other. Just because I decided not to go to Saudi Arabia. Not to play by anyone's rules, not to wear abaya, not to be accompanied outside, and not to feel like a secondary creature. Exactly a year ago I won these two titles and was just about the happiest person in the world of chess, but this time I feel really bad. Iām ready to stand on my principles and skip the event where I should make more in five days than a dozen events combined. All of this is annoying, but the most annoying thing is that almost no one really cares. This is a really bitter feeling, still not the one that changes my mind and principles. The same goes for my sister Mariya - and I'm really glad we share this perspective. And yes, for the few who care - we'll be back! ā
