The goal of the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications is to provide students with the most effective training and preparation possible for careers in every facet of the mass communication industry. This education includes conceptual courses in journalism history, ethics, public opinion, communication law, public relations and advertising; various delivery systems, including print and broadcast; and craft courses in gathering, writing, editing, and processing information.
Prior to 2000, the Gaylord College was known as the H.H. Herbert School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
