Hey everyone, thank you so much for your subscribes, but I'm sorry to say that I'll be taking a break from Youtube for now. There's two reasons for this, but I admit that the trolling and nasty comments have been getting to me. People who would never speak to you in the real world seem to think it's OK to be nasty and vicious online. Many of these people have particular problems with women and the police, and I don't have the energy or the inclination to deal with them, apart from blocking and deleting every day. I have the utmost respect for the bigger true crime channels who face into abuse on a regular basis. I know I have the option of just turning off the comments and it's something I may do in the future (although it wouldn't stop the very strange emails I've been getting also). The second (and main) reason I'm taking a break is that I hugely underestimated just how much work goes into the research, production, filming, editing and uploading of each true crime video when you do it single handed. I've never been one to print off a Wikipedia page and rehash that. Each story was hugely researched in depth, which took an inordinate amount of time. I guess it's the investigator in me. Once I go down a rabbit hole, you may not see me for days!
I am hugely grateful to all of my subscribers and my views have hit over 200,000(!) but I'm stepping away for now as I have so much going on with my first love, which is thriller writing. My new thriller, Flesh And Blood, launches on Amazon next month. I'm also currently writing a stand alone psychological thriller novel, editing a future title and plotting a third. I hope to publish two books a year from now on and there will be lots of announcements on my socials in time so do follow me there. It's funny as I write about some pretty dark stuff, but it doesn't bother me as I control the ending and the characters. With true crime, it can really bring you down, as it rarely has a satisfactory ending. I won't miss the nightmares I've been experiencing since delving into the dark world of true crime. Never say never though, I may be back once my workload eases and hopefully Youtube will find a better way of dealing with trolls. I've never experienced anything like it on Twitter or Facebook, but I guess when you step behind the camera, you really are putting yourself out there. All I will say is to be kind online. Only say what you'd be happy to say to someone's face, and if you can't be kind then step away and find something that makes you happy. β€οΈβ€οΈ
