I grew up on a homestead in Southwest Mississippi and those were some of the best times of my life. Now I have a family and constantly find myself being pulled into the rat race of city living. So we have bought some land just outside of the Ouachita National Forest in central Arkansas and are starting our very own homestead from the ground up. Our new homestead is raw land, with no power, water, or buildings of any sort. So we have a lot of work to do, but we get to set everything up JUST like we want it. We are going to use some permaculture techniques in our homestead layout and in our gardening style.
