Nineteenth Century: The Age of Electrical Innovation
The Invention of the Battery and Electromagnetism
The 19th century marked an era of rapid advancement in electricity, beginning with the invention of the battery by Italian scientist Alessandro Volta in 1800. Volta's āvoltaic pileā was the first device capable of generating a continuous electric current, allowing for further experimentation with electric currents. Voltaās work inspired scientists such as Michael Faraday and Hans Christian Ćrsted, who conducted experiments on electricity and magnetism.
