Hello I’m still around, just been busy behind the scenes. Recently took on a Hi8 tape with some probably familiar video. Hopefully I’ll have an edit of this soon. Just for hahas, a comparison of sources. 1st is TVC III, 2nd is from the 2017 upload, 3rd is from the original Hi8 tape. I think I have some neat videos in store for 2025, stick around or keep an eye on my edits elsewhere playlist!

Hello all, I’ve decided to make a playlist of videos I’ve worked on that were uploaded to their respective videographer’s channels! I’m sure this will be a continuous work in progress. youtube.com/playlist?list=PLM...

Hello all, I recently had a chance to work on some video from May 3 1999. Check out the final result here! https://youtu.be/fKeTMqGOruw?si=NeXnd...

Dragging and dropping a video downloaded off of YouTube into Topaz and letting the program figure out the rest is neither a restoration, nor is it archival work. This has been a PSA from your friendly neighborhood weather video archivist.

Hello y’all, it’s the resident accidental storm video archivist. I’ve been wanting to make an update video for a very long time, but I don’t know how to go about. I know some came here from my attempts at finding video from May 27 1997, but others still have come here from my recent preservation of storm chase videos. Would y’all like a single long form video lumping everything together? Or multipart?

Oh right, I have a community tab. Hello I am currently in the middle of a massive transfer project right now, currently transfer many tapes and such for storm chaser Scott Currens, including his video of the May 3 1999 F5, his legendary 2004 season with Eric Nguyen, early HD video, and even some hard to find documentaries that Eric recorded off the air. Coupled with some other transfer projects I’m working on on the side, my hands are full at the moment, but I do hope to have some edits to share over the next several months, especially since it has been 20 years since the equally legendary 2003 tornado season. Also there’s some Jarrell stuff sprinkled in there for those who are solely here for that. Follow me on Twitter where I post a lot more frequently: @/AngelAndHisWx

Holy dingus, I can post community posts now? Well then, hello y’all, I seem to have garnered quite a bit of attention these last two years, both in regards to the Jarrell F5 and my video transfers of past tornadic events, both on this channel and scattered elsewhere. I’ve been wanting to make an update to my 2020 video, but I cannot for the life of me rack my brain and find out how I want to go about it, so that’s gonna be on the back burner for now. But there are a couple frequently asked questions I can quickly answer:
Q. Did I ever find video of Jarrell?
A. I found two, one of which is public (a VHS transfer of the Persky video), the other I currently do not have permission to share (DVD copy of the full Texas A&M video)
Q. Do they show the transition?
A. The Texas A&M video technically does, but the recording is not continuous, was shot from a distance, and shot from a moving vehicle. Not the best quality video per se, but it’s the video with the most continuous view. The Persky video is the best quality video of the transition currently, but it is also not continuous and the recording starts roughly halfway through the transition, missing when the rope initially started pigtailing into the sky.
Q. Do they answer the question of whether or not it was all one tornado or two to three in quick succession?
A. Nope.
Q. Do the videos raise more questions than answers?
A. Yup!
Q. How much video is missing during the transition?
A. Around 20 seconds of video is currently unavailable, and of course it’s during a time frame where the funnel seemingly vanishes from current views, which adds to the inconclusive nature.
That’s pretty much it for now y’all, I’ve hit a wall with finding more media from the event, but the search continuous behind the scenes, even if it is kinda dragging along. If y’all have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. Admittedly I’m not the fastest at replying since I’m terrible at social media as a whole, but I will get to them when I can. Thank you all for the continuous best of lucks on this pretty ambitious passion project, the support I’ve gotten over the last two years has been amazing. Hopefully I’ll have more to share in the future, whether it be from Jarrell or from past tornadic events of the videotape era.
Best regards,
Angel
