Common Question: Virtual Desktop is very insistent on having your PC wired for the best experience. But is this necessarily true? If you have a Wi-Fi 6E network with 2401 Mbps speed, wouldn't that be faster than using the 1000 Mbps cable?
it's a case of "maybe it will work without", but it puts you at risk of extremely sensitive wireless interference, so while VD doesn't actually stop you from doing it, they will not provide support for those setups.
While it may seem like a high-speed Wi-Fi 6E network could outperform a 1000 Mbps wired connection, there are still factors that make a wired connection preferable for Virtual Desktop, especially when it comes to consistent performance.
Hereās why:
Latency and Stability: Even with Wi-Fi 6E's high speeds, wired connections generally offer lower latency and more consistent performance. Wi-Fi can suffer from interference, signal degradation, and congestion, which can lead to fluctuations in speed and latency. A wired connection, on the other hand, provides stable bandwidth without these issues.
Overhead on Wi-Fi: Wireless protocols like Wi-Fi 6E have overheads due to the nature of radio signal transmission and network congestion, which can affect real-world performance. Your 2401 Mbps Wi-Fi speed is the theoretical maximum, and the actual effective speed can be lower due to network congestion, distance from the router, or obstructions in the environment.
Network Traffic: If other devices are using the same Wi-Fi network, they could be competing for bandwidth, which could affect your VR streaming experience. With a wired connection, the bandwidth is dedicated to your PC, reducing the likelihood of interference.
Error Correction: Wired connections are more reliable at maintaining data integrity. Wireless signals can be disrupted by environmental factors like walls or other electronics, leading to packet loss and retransmissions, which can negatively impact your VR experience.
In short, while Wi-Fi 6E is capable of very high speeds, a wired connection is often still the more reliable and consistent option, especially for applications like Virtual Desktop that require low latency and stable throughput.

Meta had a rough holiday season as reports surfaced of Quest headsets being bricked during updates to v72. Mainly, headsets with older builds were affected, along with brand-new, unused devices. This came at the worst possible time, with many users unboxing their devices during Christmas only to find them unusable.
According to an article by UploadVR, ( www.uploadvr.com/bricked-quest-report-christmas-20ā¦ ) Meta scrambled to address the issue, but not before hundreds of headsets were affected. Their initial advice to those impacted was to try holding down the power button for 45 seconds before releasing it ā a potential fix worth attempting if youāre experiencing the problem.
While Meta has since worked on resolving the issue, the timing and scale of the problem left many disappointed. This serves as yet another reminder of how crucial smooth software rollouts are, especially during the holiday season.

Blender is free, but if you got disposable income from your blender projects remember to give something back by donating...
But with that said... They should consider Epic's model of using yearly revenue as an indication of whether you should pay for a license.
Epic Gamesā model allows users to use the engine for free until their projects exceed a certain revenue threshold ($1M annually). After that, they pay a royalty percentage, which scales with their success. That way, Disney and Marvel would be the ones who pay the bill.

So sad to see PlayStation abandon PSVR2 before even giving it a fair chance. They abandoned any attempt at marketing after the initial launch. I suspect new management had no faith in the medium, and the economy now has no room for taking chances. Too bad because the headset is still one of the best for its price range.

Yes... we need more flat to VR seated games as well as the made for VR. Also... āŖāŖ@CDPROJEKTREDā¬ā¬ it seams like such a missed opportunity to not officially support VR in āŖāŖ@CyberpunkGameā¬. It looks incredible in stereo! Honestly, I donāt even need motion controllersājust give me a screen plastered to my face while I relax comfortably in the Ripperdoc's chair with a controller in hand. There's nothing more cyberpunk than that! LukeRoss www.patreon.com/realvr/ has already laid a lot of the groundwork. Just bring him a hefty bag of cash and tweak his work to work with the PS5's PSVR2. Granted you get your big cash bag back in no time.. š

Meta Quest 3 Build v.65 has been released, and guess who decided to make a reappearance?
The negotiation rate bug is back baby! Fluctuating from 2401 Mbps to 1729 - 1440 Mbps every 4-5 seconds.
Now, I know some of you have had problems with versions 63 and 64 too, but now, "finally," I also get to rejoin the club! Hooray š...
But it's a lot less noticeable than it was pre v.62. At least we are getting full speed periodically, but the fluctuating speeds will still lead to some random frame drops. Let's hope Meta "refixes" this soon."

Playing my PS5 110 miles away from home using the PlayStation Portal over semi-usable internet... and you know what? It actually works! But you need to wire your console. Sorry for the lack content, been super busy but I'm hoping to be back soon.
