As a proud Minnesotan and lifelong hockey devotee, Tony Brown has relied on his passion for the game to guide him through nearly every level of hockey and across the United States during an award-winning career highlighted by his account of the Lake Erie Monsters' 2016 Calder Cup Championship, Cleveland's first pro sports title since 1964. A 2010 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Brown was honored by the AHL with the 2020-21 James H. Ellery Memorial Award for outstanding media coverage of the American Hockey League.
Following stints with the NAHL's Odessa Jackalopes (2011-13), USHL's Omaha Lancers (2013-14) and ECHL's Indy Fuel (2014-15), Brown, 35, is underway in his ninth season as the radio and TV voice of the AHL's Cleveland Monsters as the team's Dir. of Broadcast Services/Team Communications.
