in the future - u will be able to do some more stuff here,,,!! like pat catgirl- i mean um yeah... for now u can only see others's posts :c
Just wanted to pop in and provide another little update post for y'all. I've got the floppestra mostly fixed up and ready to start doing songs again. There's a few random problems I'm still trying to figure out, but it's getting there. I returned to work back in May and it's been a complete nightmare trying to keep up with everything (electronics repair), in fact it's even gotten to the point where I've been bringing stuff home to work on it, which has obviously gotten in the way of working on the floppestra.
About a year ago I purchased an actual camera to start doing videos, after all I've been doing these videos just using my phone. Trying to find a good way to set it up for all the angles is a very tedious process so I decided to just get an actual halfway decent camera with a simple tripod for the task.
Unfortunately, this new camera caused me to discover a new problem. The natural lighting in my room is terrible. If I want to record with a crystal clear image quality I have to turn the exposure waaaaaaay down, and by that point you can't even see anything. I always knew the lights in my room kinda sucked but I didn't think it was so bad that cameras were blind without huge gain on the exposure.
In light (haha) of this discovery, I decided it would be in my best interest to purchase some actual lights and get a basic lighting setup going. I know it probably won't add much to the presentation of my videos, but it's something I want to do. The required exposure that I need is just way too high. The problem is I can't really afford them right now. They're nothing extravagant, but for a few good LED lights, some stands, and some diffuser boxes it's gonna run me some money I just can't spare right now. COVID left me out of work with no pay for about 2 months, and it wasn't until this week that I finally returned to work full-time.
Soon(TM) I will buy the stuff I need and get back into the groove of things. I know this is probably the 8th time I've said that. But this time it's different - honest!

A little diddy I've been working on lately. The scanner is still not wanting to play nice, but soon(TM) I'm sure I will get it working.

Update #1
Wanted to post a quick little update to let y'all know I've been working on bringing the Floppestra back from the dead. Finished re-doing most of the wires. Need to figure out why my scanner doesn't want to work. But, progress! Here's a tasty riff for you to enjoy.

So uhh, does anyone know where I can get an isolated vocal track for Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love? Or know anyone who can sing Japanese? This is a song I've been wanting to do since April of this year. I managed to track down a lossless FLAC of the 30th anniversary re-release of Variety, which does contain two mixes of the original song plus a karaoke track, but I'm guessing these were originally ripped from vinyl or cassette before being digitally released. There seems to be a lot of (initially imperceptible) flutter in all three versions of the song I have, which makes noise cancelling to isolate the vocals impossible, as microsecond precision is required to make sure it works as intended. I've also tried phase cancelling, as most songs are mixed with the vocal track in the center phase. This song seems to be the one exception.
I've already tried a few people on Fiverr to isolate the vocals from the files I have, but even those attempts did not end up very good. I don't think it's any fault on their part, because they were definitely able to produce much better results than I was. However even those better versions were completely unusable to me. I think this is just a cursed song.
I am literally willing to pay someone money to isolate them for me/find a clean isolation, or even pay someone to perform the song in Japanese so I can use the vocals. I'll take any recommendations if y'all have some.

Whoa, hey guys. So it's been awhile, huh?
I already uploaded a video for this, but I figured I'd make a community post too. I want to let all of you know that the floppestra is officially returning! I know I said that 2 years ago in the last video of it I made, but this time I'm 100% for realsies.
You can follow me on Twitter (@TheFloppestra) if you want to see status updates, shitposting, and memes as I work away at the songs I've been neglecting to finish for the last couple of years. In the coming weeks I will be sharing lots of stuff there (and also here in community posts on YT if you're not into the whole Twitter thing). I hope to see some of you there!
I'm also completely open to DMs and comments. I want to hear your opinions and ideas on things to cover, or what you think of different status updates. These updates will primarily be samples of things I'm working on. I want to interact with all of you. I genuinely want to hear opinions and ideas on things I'm currently working on, and ways you all think I can improve.
Don't get too excited, though --- the floppestra was left in disarray when I last messed with her two years ago. She's going to need a bit of work before she's up and running again, but I promise all of you that I won't dilly dally in trying to make that happen. I miss making songs with this, I miss reading comments from all of you about the things I've made. I used to be concerned about the views declining, but after slapping myself enough times I've finally realized that was a load of crap to be worried about. Even if one person sees and appreciates the things I've spent time on, that's all that matters to me.
I thank each and every one of you who have bothered to stick around even after all this time. You're all true fans, and that means a lot to me. I think it's time I start reciprocating that.
